Aylesford Newsprint Limited is a leading UK producer of quality 100% recycled newsprint for the European markets. The paper manufacturing facility occupies a 100 acre site which includes substantial investment in supporting utilities including power generation, steam distribution and waste water treatment. Innogy Cogen has invested to provide nearly 100 MWe of generating capacity for power supply to the mill, existing external customers and also some exports to the National Grid. The Mill has a combustor to convert 16 tonnes per hour of process paper waste into steam which is then available for power production. The CHP plant consists of 2 gas turbines, 2 fired heat recovery boilers and one back pressure pass out steam turbine. The plant is modern with good performance and has a high level of availability. The plant has been desinged to reduce the level of NOx emission.
