Heat storage

Heat stores (also called heat accumulators) are large insulated tanks that can store large quantities of heat in the form of hot water. They can be very useful additions to district heating and cooling schemes, decoupling the direct link between the production of electricity and heat and its supply to end users. Although often used in combination with CHP, heat stores can be coupled with any form of heat generation technology, such as a heat pumps or biomass boilers.
